Concrete Wall Volume Calculator
Enter the finished concrete dimensions of a solid, uniform wall. Use the number field for identical wall sections only.
How the calculation works
Volume in cubic feet = length in feet × height in feet × (thickness in inches ÷ 12) × count. Divide by 27 for cubic yards and add the selected waste percentage.
Worked example
One wall 20 ft long, 4 ft high and 6 in thick has 40 ft³ of concrete, or 1.48 yd³. With 10% extra, the order estimate is 1.63 yd³ or 74 bags at 0.60 ft³ each.
Before you order
Openings, pilasters, footings and block cores are not subtracted. Form pressure, reinforcement and wall thickness require project-specific engineering; this tool only estimates solid volume.
Review the calculation method and source notes, then use the supplier checklist before placing an order.
Cast-in-place wall measurement
A solid straight wall uses length × height × thickness. Convert thickness in inches to feet before multiplication. Measure openings such as doors and large penetrations separately if they displace a meaningful volume; this tool does not subtract them automatically.
For a wall with changing height, divide it into segments and sum each segment. A footing below the wall is another pour and should be calculated separately. Form ties, reinforcement, placement method and bracing are design matters beyond this volume estimate.
Questions before you order
Does this include the footing?
No. Use the footing calculator for the footing and add both volumes in the multi-pour estimator.
Can I subtract a doorway?
This tool does not subtract openings automatically. Calculate the opening volume and subtract it from the gross wall volume before ordering.
Can I use it for a hollow CMU wall?
No. It estimates a solid cast-in-place wall, not block fill or mortar.
